Thierry
Cheverney is one of a group of artists who are reviving this interest
in the mysterious inner landscape of the mind. In this work images and
objects take on the role of symbols. Often they make specific or
general reference to works by like minded artists of the past.
Cheverney places images together in deliberately bizarre juxtapositions
in order to reveal what happens when the apparently familiar trappings
of our world are filtered through the strange screen of the
unconscious. He is also preoccupied with the dangers inherent in
opening the Pandora's box of our unacknowedged deamons, creating
arresting images of the irrationa internal energies that can pull the
"normal" world apart.
